Why is it so hard for foreigners to rent a home in Japan?
This simple question is where Aikagi began. Even with my 10+ years of experience in the Japanese real estate industry and a national license (宅地建物取引士), I faced a shocking reality when searching for a home with my American partner. We were rejected by many landlords simply because he was a foreigner—even though I was the one signing the contract.
It made me realize that for those who don’t speak Japanese, life here can feel like a series of “closed doors.” I founded Aikagi to be the “Spare Key” that opens those doors for you. We are here to bridge the gap with professional expertise and heartfelt support, ensuring you feel at home from day one.
